Need a new digital slr camera dont know what to get?

I've been doing photography for years now and had the same camera (olympus e-1) i love my camera but it is definitely time for an upgrade. i was looking into the canon rebel series and liked the reviews on the xsi but when i held it it felt cheap so im not so sure about it, i like Olympus but everything they have is a lot of money and im tight on money... i just would like an opinion on a good solid slr preferable not thousands of dollars looking to spend no more then $800
